Update 8 January 2026

I would like to meet briefly with individual students for a 20 min discussion of the paper of each. I intend to be on campus for this on Monday 12 January, ca. 1 pm – 6 pm. At this brief meeting, we can determine whether a more lengthy meeting on the paper would be advisable. Below are time slots. Please try to suggest two time slots in case someone else contacts me before you. I will try to update the time slots taken in a timely manner.

If Monday in person at my office does not work for you, an alternative is via TEAMS Wednesday afternoon 1-5 by appointment. Otherwise, we can meet next week in person at my office during office hours: Tu 3:30-5 and AMU cafeteria 5:15-6 pm; or Th AMU cafeteria 5:15-6 pm

=================================================

As the semester moves toward completion, I want to meet with students on paper preparations perhaps several times. Let’s use this page to keep track of times.

Some notes to begin: As I said in class, I do not want to read full drafts of your papers. Rather, I want to meet with you to discuss your reasoning and your outlines for papers. I leave the matter of proper preparation of the paper as a professional work to you. I prefer a style that has footnotes at the bottom of the page for ease of reading your reasoning. So please be sure to do that and to have a robust bibliography for your paper. The bibliography should show some reach to work beyond English if relevant.

I have already met with four students and I think their motions on the paper project are getting underway.

Finally, when you email me about meeting, please share with me something of the content of the meeting. I may have to do some reading to be sure I am ready to meet with you profitably.

Let’s figure meetings are 30-45 min but we can expand if necessary.
