The MWS in Ancient and Medieval Philosophy was founded by Profs. Owen Goldin, Richard C. Taylor and David B. Twetten for hosting academic year speakers and for hosting the annual Summer conference on Aristotle and the Aristotelian Tradition at Marquette University.

The 15th annual meeting planned for 2020 on the topic of “Causes and Causation in Aristotle and the Aristotelian Tradition” was set in place in March 2020 only to be canceled due to the 2020-21 pandemic.

Spring presentations on campus were also canceled due to the pandemic.

For the academic year 2020-21, the speakers program is alive but now with speakers present virtually with Microsoft TEAMS technology.
